As you well know, it takes a lot to run a "home". So too for Mount St. Joseph. From the pictures on this web site and in the presentation made through our DVD (click here to see), you can see Mount St. Joseph provides its residents an enriching quality of life. One they may not have found elsewhere.

The majority of our efforts are supported financially by the State of Illinois. We are licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health to operate an intermediate care facility for the developmentally disabled providing up to 132 beds for permanent residents. The State pays facilities such as ours a standard rate per resident for their care and support. Currently, the standard rate paid by the State of Illinois is $110.00 per day per resident. These revenues cover the necessary expenses involved in providing room and board, regular staffing, basic medical services and supervision. State funding is often inadequate for extra-curricular or life enriching activities.

As is most every institution in the State, Mount St. Joseph is feeling the pressure of reduced funding and continuing declines in the level of State supported services and resources. That's why we augment our revenues with the generous donations made to us by others including web site visitors like yourself. These additional funds go directly to supporting the mission of Mount St. Joseph and the care of our residents.
